Error description

  • ASD : CLASH : RESULT OF CLASH DEPENDS ON
    METHOD OF CREATION OF GEOMETRY.
    .
    Scenario.
    .
    1. Start CATIA V5R16SP4
    2. Tools / Options / Display / Performance TAB 3D
    Accuracy (x) Fixed 0.01
This is the point of the scenario.
    3. File > Open and select provided
    PRODUCTx.CATProduct here, x is 1, 2, or 3.
    4. Select Analyze > Clash from main menu.
    5. In "Check Clash" dialogue, click "Apply" button
    without changing values.
    .
    < about the provided 3 CATProduct >
All of the shape are same.
    1. The inside Part body, a cylinder The diameter is
    50mm.
    2. The outside Part body, a cube of 100mm x
100mm with a hole, The hole's diameter is
    50.05mm.
    These center points are coincidence.
The creation scenario of 2.(the outside body) are
    difference on 3
    CATProduct.
The results of Analyze/Clash aren't same.
    PRODUCT1.CATProduct KO
    PRODUCT2.CATProduct OK
    PRODUCT3.CATProduct OK
    .
    Expected Result
    .
The analysis results of same geometries should be
same, although the creation scenarios are different.

    ==========*===========*==========
    Incident Diagnosis.
    .
Clash / Contact computation is based on following
    rules :
The computation is based on tesselation and not on
    geometry
The minimum distance between objects decides
whether we have a clash, contact or clearance.
    If the minimum distance < sag1 + sag2, we have a
    contact
If user checks for Product1 then it can be seen that
the Minimum distance is 0.003 mm which is less
than summation of SAG value which is 0.02
    (0.01+0.01) here
    Hence we see a contact.
    .
In case of Product 2 or Product 3 the minimum
distance is 0.025 which is greater than summation
of SAG values (0.02). This leads to no detection of
    contact which is correct.
    .
    Correct Application.
    .
With the mimimum distance analysis for Product1 it
is seen that the value is less than SAG summation.
It implies that the axis of Hole and axis of Cylinder
    are NOT coincident.
    .
In Product1 make a coincidence constraint between
axis of Hole and axis of Cylinder and now check for
Contact / Clash detection , user will notice that
    there exists no contact.
