  SCENARIO:
  0) Start CATIA.
  1) Open the file: "T9441.CATPart".
  Workbench: "Part Design".
  2) Click "Chamfer" icon. "Chamfer Definition"
  dialog box is displayed.
  3) Select 1 edge in the solid on the geometry area.
  (Please see the "T9441.ppt" we send.)
  4) Select "Length1/Length2" as "Mode:ﾨ
  5) Input 7mm to "Length1:"
  6) Input 7mm to "Length2:"
  7) Click "OK". "Chamfer.1" is created.
  8) Close CATIA.

  In the case of R17SP3:
  9) Start CATIA V5R17SP3Hotfix10.
  10) Open the file: "T9441.CATPart".
  Workbench: "Part Design".
  11) Click "Chamfer" icon. "Chamfer Definition"
  dialog box is displayed.

  Incident Diagnosis:
  1. In original Partbody with Length-Angle (7mm-
  45deg angle), behavior is corrected. Now we get
  error message as expected for twisted surface.
  2. In Copy-Pasted body in new CATPart, the error
  message is displayed as expected for Length-
  Angle, as well as Length-Length configuration.
  3. For original Partbody, with Length-Length
  configuration (7mm-7mm for example), the twisted
  surface is not detected.
  .
  The chamfer is incorrect, twisted surface is
  generated. Because a very small twist has been
  detected now (around 0.2% of the surface). It is
  not detected, that is why the chamfer is seen as
  correct.
  .
  In the algorithm, we use a generic twist detection
  algorithm which may miss very small twists like
  this one. To fix this problem durably, a chamfer
  dedicated twist detection should be implemented,
  which would take into account specifications of the
  chamfer in order to be more reliable.
  This is a huge development, that has been
  plannned for R19GA. It cannot be implemented on
  R18 GA level.
