IC60016: CONTENTS OF VERSION.TXT FILES NOT CONSISTENT.

APAR status

• Closed as Permanent restriction.

Error description

• Remotely upgraded the data agent from the TPC GUI,  and it
  appearss to complete successfully.
  However, when we check the version.txt files, there were 2 of
  them and the contents were inconsistent.
  \program files\ibm\tpc\version.txt and
  \program files\ibm\tpc\ca\subagents\tpc\data\version.txt.
  
  Before the upgrade, it contained the following entries:
  C:\program files\ibm\tpc\version.txt" -> v3.1.3.55
  C:\program files\ibm\tpc\ca\subagents\tpc\data\version.txt" ->
  v3.1.3.55
  .....
  After the upgrade, it contained the following entries:
  C:\program files\ibm\tpc\ca\subagents\tpc\data\version.txt" ->
  v3.1.3.65
  C:\program files\ibm\tpc\version.txt file still contains the
  entry -> v3.1.3.55.
  
  RECREATE STEPS:
  1)  Upgrade agent using remote/push method.
  2)  Check version.txt files under
  C:\program files\ibm\tpc\ca\subagents\tpc\data
  and
  C:\program files\ibm\tpc

• Edit file version.txt
  

Problem summary

• Users Affected:
  Users who install TPC using Installshield and then try later to
  upgrade remotely the server or the agents
  
  Problem Description:
  When the server or the agents are upgraded remotely, the file
  "version.txt" located in TPC install directory will show the TPC
  version before the upgrade. Only the "version.txt" in the data
  agents directory is updated.
  

Problem conclusion

• This is a current limitation of the data installer (remote
  install and Server/Agent upgrade) which doesn't use
  Installshield, which would update "version.txt".
  This limitation is documented in TPC 3.3.2 flash and in the next
  Installation Guide as a troubleshooting topic.
