IC56206: WHEN TPC-R RESTARTS, IT CAN NOT SEE THAT VOLUMES ARE IN SYNCHRONIZING STATE

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When running the state check code, TPC-R should be able to see
the current role pair states and update them accordingly.
However, when TPC-R thinks a pair is Suspended but it is
actually Synchronizing, it does not update the pair - the pair
remains suspended in the TPC-R DB.

Local fix

  • n/a

Problem summary

  • TPC-R did not show the correct volume state.

Problem conclusion

  • There was a missing check where TPC-R thought the pair was
suspended but in reality the pair was copying on the hardware.
TPC-R was querying the hardware and seeing that it was copying
but failed to update it's database to reflect the correct state
and thus continued to show Suspended.
This has been fixed in releases 3.3.3.4 and 3.4.0.1.

Temporary fix
