IC38384: ITSM 5.2 DEVICE WIZARD 3582 LTO LIBRARIES FAILS RSM ERROR

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The 5.2 Windows Device Wizard does not recognize the 3582 LTO
  library and will fail stating that "ChangerX is not recognized
  by Windows Removable Storage Manager. TSM does not support
  medium changers that are driven by Windows native device drivers
  unless they are controlled by Windows Removable Storage Manager.
  Please consult TSM documentation for further details".
  The problem is that the Device wizard does not recognize
  the new init string for the 3582 library. The OS will
  recognize the library using the IBM driver and the library
  and drives can be defined via the web admin or the command
  line.
  Two MMC behaviors have been observed after clicking on "OK"
  The first is that the wizard will exit and the MMC instance will
  be hung, in which case another MMC window can be opened and all
  other functions can be used but the only way to get rid of the
  original MMC will be to reboot.
  The second behavior is that the MMC will exit. Subsequent MMC
  windows can be opened and operational for functions other than
  the device wizard.
  TSM Versions Affected: Windows Only
  RSM had been disabled and did not control the devices.
  The TSM Device Driver does not have to be installed and
  should not be controlling the library for ITSM 5.2.
  The latest IBM Ultrium Driver should be installed for both
  the library and drives.

  MMC trace will show the changer associated with the TSM device
  driver.
