A Link can become invalid, with a validation error 'The target mapped member is not in the dimension'

Troubleshooting

Problem

The modeler has created a Link in Performance Modeler, which involves a manual mapping between two dimensions. The Link is invalid, and one or more of the members used in the manual mapping show a validation error 'The target mapped member is not in the dimension'. However, this is incorrect - the member does actually exist.

Symptom

A Link containing a manual mapping shows a validation error 'The target mapped member is not in the dimension', even though the member highlighted does actually exist, as shown in this example:

May alternatively see the message 'The source mapped member is not in the dimension'. Solution works for this as well.
