HE08294: CATIA 2D LAYOUT FOR 3D DESIGN - CREATED DIMENSIONS ARE NOT CORRE CT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Scenario :
  1- File / Open the CATPart file
  It contains two curves (3D Wireframe) under a geometrical set
  and a sheet under Layout
  2- Double click "Sheet.1" in the tree and go to 2D Layout for
  3D Design workbench
  3- Click "Dimensions" icon.
  "Tools Palette" panel is displayed.
  4- Select "Curve.1" in the geometry.
  5- Select "Curve.13" in the geometry.
  Result :
  Dimensions is created.
  But, the created dimensions is not correct.
  Expected Result :
  Dimensions should be created correctly.
  Important Information-1 :
  As for the same phenomenon, the Drawing also occurs.
  Please create a new Drawing, select "zx plane" and create a
  view.
  And please create dimensions to "Curve.1 and Curve.13" which
  were projected on the drawing.
  The created dimensions is not correct.
  Important Information-2 :
  If "Curve Smooth" command is executed to "Curve.1", this
  problem phenomenon will not occur.
  Please execute the "Curve Smooth" command to "Curve.1".
  Please execute the scenario procedure.
  Correct dimensions is created.

• THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION V5R22 GA level.
  Additional Closure Information:
  Technical explanation of the defect:
  Geometry information is based on the EdgeCurve information.
  The curve "Curve.1" has not accurate limit information on its
  EdgeCurve. The Edge has accurate information.
  Technical explanation of the correction:
  The Edge has accurate information than Edge curve. With good
  limits, we can know create the good dimension.
  As the correction impacts the dimensions update, the
  correction is versionned.
  So the correction will be available only for dimensions
  created in V5R22 or in next releases.
  Possible by-pass and/or correction limitation:
  Smooth the curve before creating dimension.
  As the correction is versionned, correction is not possible
  on CATIA V5R20 and V5R21.
