Error description

  • Abstract:
Measure Inertia bounding box values is Wrong by factor of 1k
(1000) when multiple bodies are selected.
    Scenario:
    0. Start CATIA V5R21
    1. Create a new part
    2. Activate the PartBody
    3. Create a closed box sketch
    4. Create a Pad from the sketch
    5. Create another Body (Activate this Body)
    6. Create a closed box sketch
    7. Create a Pad from the sketch
    8. Create a 3D Inertia measurement ? Select the PartBody and
then hold control and select the other Body. (The measurement
    now contains both inputs)
    9. Click the f(x) and select the InertiaVolume at the bottom
    of the spec tree.
    10. There are 6 attributes which are incorrect BBOx, BBOy,
BBOz, BBLx, BBLy, BBLz and if you multiple these values by
1000, they are correct. BBO represents the Bounding Box
Origin point and BBL represents the lengths of the box from
the origin point along the inertia axes.
    Result:
There are 6 attributes which are incorrect BBOx, BBOy, BBOz,
    BBLx, BBLy, BBLz.
    Expected result:
Measure Inertia bounding box values should be correct by
factor when multiple bodies are selected.

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON I-PLM Collaborative Innovation
    VERSION V5-6R2012 GA level.
NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R20 SP7.
NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R21 SP2.
    Additional Closure Information:
    Incident Diagnosis:
Measure Inertia bounding box values KO by factor of 1k when
    multiple bodies are selected
    Reason:
Actually the there was a problem in the bounding box
computation of measure and which has been corrected
now. However, the problem is fixed when a new measure created.
    Important Note:
There was a problem in the bounding box computation which has
been corrected now(V5R21SP2 level), but this will be
effective only for measures created with the new algorithm.
i.e., the measure which were already created will use the old
algorithm will not update, because of the version saved in
side the measure feature. so new algorithm will only called
    for the newly created measures.
