HE04181: USE OF A SYSTEM VARIABLE FOR DEFAULT MATERIAL CATALOG PATH

Error description

  • Scenario:
    1. Customize a material catalog file and name it as
    xyz.CATMaterial.
    2. Keep this file in a location (say) C:\MyCatalog.
    3. Assign a windows system environment variable MYCATPATH=
    C:\MyCatalog.
    4. Open CATIA V5 and go to
    Tools>Options>Infrastructure>Material Library>Material Tab.
    5. In the default material catalog path, enter
    ${MYCATPATH}\xyz.CATMaterial.
    6. Open a new part and click on the material icon.
    Problem:
    The default material catalog doesn???t come up as denoted by
    the proper syntax.
    Expected Result:
    The default material catalog should come up using the syntax
    for environment variable.
    The result should be the same as inputting
    C:\MyCatalog\xyz.CATMaterial.

  • THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON V5R22 GA Level.
    NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R21 SP1.
    Additional Closure Information:
    Incident Diagnosis:
    Use of a system variable for default material catalog path
    doesnt work.
    Correction Explanation:
    When we read the default catalog path, we check if in this
    path we found a environment variable. This behavior is now
    corrected.
    Bypass / Correction Limitation:
    None
