Abstract

This document contains the installation procedure to update the Integrated Management Module 2 (IMM2) and Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) in an IBM Smart Analytics System 5600 V3 environment.

Content

A. Installing an update for the IMM2

1. Copy the IBM UpdateXpress and IMM2 files to the /tmp/fw directory on the server and issue the following commands:

    cd /tmp/fw

    ./ibm_utl_uxspi_9.51_sles11_32-64.bin up --nouxsp -i ibm_fw_imm2_1aoo56d-3.73_anyos_noarch -s all --ignore-req
If you downloaded IBM Smart Analytics System 5600V3 Fix Pack 1.3.0.1, the IMM2 file is located in the /install/fw directory.

2. Verify the firmware version of the IMM2.

    a. Log in to the IMM2, where <IMM_IP> is the IP address of the IMM2.
Note: The default password is PASSW0RD, where 0 is the number zero.

      ssh USERID@<IMM_IP>

    b. Issue the following command:

      vpd imm

      Sample output:
      Type              Version       BuildID          ReleaseDate
      ----              -------       -------          -----------

If you downloaded IBM Smart Analytics System 5600V3 Fix Pack 1.3.0.1, the UEFI file is located in the /install/fw directory.

2. Reboot the node.

3. Verify the UEFI firmware version.

    a. Log in to the IMM2, where <IMM_IP> is the IP address of the IMM2.
Note: The default password is PASSW0RD, where '0' is the number zero.

      ssh USERID@<IMM_IP>
    b. Issue the following command:

      vpd uefi

      Sample output:
      Type             Version          BuildID           ReleaseDate
      ----             -------          -------           -----------
