Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN CATIA
    Additional Closure Information:
    Incident Diagnosis:
File - Save Management startup catalog file error
    Technical Reason:
The scenario can be divided in 2 major steps.
    1) Saving a Catalog file (along with data)with Save
Management (in same directory as data)
    2) Warning displayed while opening the saved data.
The issue was opened for 2nd step i.e. Warning displayed
while opening the saved data in R20 (which was not
the case in R19).The old behavior was an inconsistent
behavior that had been considered as a bug and fixed
accordingly, with no specific PER/PES. This is the reason,
Warning is displayed from R20 onwards.
However, the 2nd step is side-effect of step 1 i.e. incorrect
saving of Catalog file, results in
Warning during Open. As per doc ,catalog file should be saved
at intel_a\resources\graphic (Along with newly created
Catalog files, same should be applicable to modified &
re-saved catalog files). If Catalog is saved at correct
location, the warning is not seen.
However, the warning display is additional behavior since R20
and this is done as a fix of
some bug. It's not documented. Hence, it is being closed as a
    permanent restriction.
Note: The Graphic path is part of the application
installation files and is not a user directory.
Ideally, Catia users should not have write access to such
directories. This should require administrator privileges. So
saving user data (CATProduct, etc) to
intel_a/resources/graphic is NOT correct. Only application
documents (CATfct, etc) should be allowed to be saved in
    installation directories.
    By-Pass:
Save Catalog at correct location (intel_a\resources\graphic).
Please note that When user Saves catalog file at different
location than resource path, it???s storage path changes. When
you close the editor, catalog files still remain in session.
Catalog files once loaded in session does not get unloaded.
So even when user copies the catalog file again to graphic
location and makes it read-only, it does not solve the
problem if Catia session is kept open. Working with any Catia
data (and that should include system data like catalog files)
outside Catia (like from windows explorer) is not advisable,
WHEN it???s already open in Catia session. The problem will get
    resolved if Catia is re-started.
