Error description

  • Scenario:
    1. Build attached sample workspace
    2. Set the variable CNEXTOUTPUT to console
    3. Launch CATIA and open attached part document
    4. Start the command ???Check00???
    5. Select the face and check the processing time in console
    output
    Actual Result:
    Processing time taken is around 10 sec.
    Expected Result:
    Processing time should be the same as V5R18 SP6
    Processing time taken on V5R18 SP6 is less than 1 sec.

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION V5R21 GA level.
    NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R20 SP6.

    Technical explanation of the defect:
    Performance regression in "CATPositionPtFaceOperator"
    operator.
    Technical explanation of the correction:
    In the "CATPositionPtFaceOpertor" operator , it has existed a
    special optimization in case where the operator is called
    several times
    - the first time the operator is called, bounding boxes of
    each edge of the face are memorized once.
    - the next time, the memorized data is reused.
    In V5R20 SP4 , a (wrong) performance optimization was done:
    memorization was removed, so each time the operator is
    called, data have to be recomputed with a performance
    regression.
    Note:
    The fact that the operator can be called several time , is a
    specific capability of this operator.
    Most operator can be called only one time.
    The initial code has been restored.
    Possible by-pass and/or correction limitation:
    None.
