Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA V5R21 GA level.
NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R20 SP4.
    Additional Closure Information:
    Technical explanation of the defect:
Link between copied instance and reference is
somehow not maintained. Relinking instance with
reference part document using Edit->Links command
resolves the issue. But thorough code its not
possible for us due to limited exposed functionality
    Technical explanation of the correction:
issue is resolved by two methods:
    a) For Instances in Session:At exit of Build Part
Command, when attribute on reference is modified ,
all instances in session will be checked and their
attributes will be compared with reference
attribute value. Mismatched attribute values will
    be updated on instances.
    b) For instances OUT of Session: A Design Validation check is
provided which will sync instance attribute values
    with those of reference.
NOTE: In both cases, only those attributes will be
    synced which are
    a) not propagated from line ID,
    b) which are modifiable and defined on reference.
    Possible by-pass and/or correction limitation:
After instance is copied using "Copy/Paste 3D
system" command, goto Edit->Links and relink the
copied instance to its reference part document (
user needs to do this even if the instance is seen
to be pointing to the correct reference part
    document).
The scenario is OK if this relinking.
    is done.
