Error description

  • Scenario:
    0) Start CATIA.

    1) Create two new CATParts. W/B GSD. "Part1" and "Part2" are
    created.
    2) Activate "Part1" window.

    3) Insert a new "Geometrical Set" in "Part1". "Geometrical
    Set.1" is inserted in "Part1".
    4) Create any "Point". "Point.1" is created.

    5) Create "Line".

    "Point-Direction" as "Line type"

    "Point.1" as "Point"

    "xy plane" as "Direction".

    "Line.1" is created.

    6) Select "Insert/Knowledge Templates/Power Copy" in menu
bar. "Power Copy Definition" window is displayed.
    7) Select "Geometrical Set.1".

    8) Click "OK". "PowerCopy.1" is created.

    9) Activate "Part2.CATPart" window.

    10) Select "Insert/Instantiate From Selection" in menu bar.

    11) Select "PowerCopy.1" in the "Part.1" window. "Insert
    Object" window is displayed.
    12) Click "Use identical name" button.

    13) Click "OK". "PowerCopy.1" is instantiated in "Part2".

    14) Launch CATDUA to "Part.2". "DOC_8" error is detected.
    This is problem.

    .

    Expected Result:

The document should not have useless links which generate bad
performance when opening a document after PowerCopy
    instantiation.
    .

    Important Info:

The case of deleting a Part in a Product.
    0) Start CATIA.

    1) Create a new CATProduct. "Product1" is created.

    2) Insert two new CATParts. "Part1" and "Part2" are inserted
    in "Product1".
    3) Delete "Part2" from "Product1".

    4) Launch CATDUA to "Product1.CATProduct". "DOC_8" error is

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN CATIA
    Additional Closure Information:
    Incident Diagnosis:
Usless links are detected after Powercopy instantiation.
    .
    Reason:
The current behavior is the way links between documents are
implemented. Removing an entry from the table that holds the
required information when a link still depends on that entry
causes severe corruption (see DOC_5 DUA error) that can end
    up with unreadable documents.
    .
The entire architecture of Links Management will have to be
re-structured to not have these potentially useless links,
even when those have been created in the same session.
Removing the error from the DUA tool is not possible since it
means that the benefit of using the DUA tool in this context
will be lost for this user and other users using it in
    different context.
    .
    By-Pass:
    - Ignore the error (severity 3, in fact rather a warning).
    - Remove the error (severity 3, in fact rather a warning)
from the list as described in the CATIA documentation:
CATIA Infrastructure / Infrastructure User Guide / Limiting
CATDUA to a Specific List of Errors.
