Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN CATIA
    Additional
    Closure Information:
    INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS: Color display result
of Surfacic curvature analysis is incorrect when fixed 3D
    accuracy=0.02 or 0.01
    RESTRICTION EXPLANATION:
    The surfacic
curvature analysis computes the minimum radius on each
location of tessellation. When 3D accuracy= 0.20, there are
less triangles and hence less number of locations while
computing the minimum radius compared to that when 3D accuracy
    is 0.02 or 0.01
This can be observed by visualizing the
    geometry in triangles.
    When 3D accuracy=0.20, all the
locations are on points where the surfacic curvature is
greater or equal to 2mm and hence it is shown in correct
    corresponding color.
    However when 3D accuracy=0.02 or 0.01,
more number of points are taken into consideration while
computing the result. Some of these points are smaller than
2mm. Hence surfacic curvature shows some area in different
    color.
Note that the geometric accuracy of all geometric
elements is 0.001mm. However it is not the case that fillet
radius will be exactly 2mm everywhere.
    The geometric
resolution of 0.001mm or even the numerical resolution
(approximately 10e-12) can compute the result as 2.0000000001
or 1.999999 and therefore curvature display result is shown in
different colors just due to this precision phenomenon.
