Error description

  • Starting with release 7.1, during the Tivoli Storage Manager
server installation or upgrade, the IBM Installation Manager
doesn't accept a blank password for the database instance user
account.
The following error is displayed at IBM Installation Manager
console using a blank password for the instance user account
during the installation process:

ERROR: The following errors were generated while installing.
ERROR: tsminst1 : The password for this instance is not
recognized. Review the response file and enter the correct
password.

Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
Tivoli Storage Manager Server 7.1 on all supported operating
systems.

Local fix

  • Install fixed server level or set password for the instance
user and retry the installation process.
