Error description
This issue occurs when IBM Sterling Gentran:Server for Microsoft Windows version 5.3.1 is installed in a Microsoft Windows 7 or Microsoft Windows Server 2008 environment. If the Windows user that is trying to start Gentran (Edimgr.exe) does not have administrative rights to the local machine they will get a User Account Control (UAC) pop-up prompting them for an administrator username and password. These credentials must be provided before Windows will allow the login procedure for Gentran to continue. If the Windows user that is trying to start Gentran (Edimgr.exe) does have administrative rights to the local machine they will still get a User Account Control (UAC) pop-up requesting verification to continue the Gentran login process. This elevation to UAC for administrative rights becomes a problem for those companies who do not let their Gentran Client users have administrator rights on the machine where the Gentran client software is installed. It was believed that all Gentran tasks needed to run under administrative level rights but this is not always the case. There are some tasks that can be done in Gentran that do not need to have administrative rights, like monitoring inbound and outbound data and searching archives. To be able to allow those Gentran client users to login and work in Gentran (on a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 system) it is necessary to remove the "Run as Administrator" setting that is coded into the Gentran:Server version 5.3.1 binaries (most of the executable files located in the Bin directory).
Local fix
RTC - 376817 CF/CF Circumvention: Always login to Gentran with a user that has local administrative rights or create an separate Windows account for Gentran users to use when the UAC window requests an administrator username and password.
Problem summary
Customer's client users are not allowed to be Administrators or have an admin account to run Gentran under. If the Windows user is not an administrator for that machine, UAC pops-up a notification box and prompts for an Administrator ID and password when launching GSW apps. So customer is requesting that the "Run as Administrator" requirement be removed from some of the GSW modules. Customer thinks they should not need "Run As Administrator" authority to run GSW on a client system despite the fact that Microsoft has changed user configurations and added User Account Control settings to newer operating systems.
Problem conclusion
Added new project build modes that use the "AsInvoked" UAC setting to the following modules so that non-admin binaries could be created without the "Run as Administrator" requirement: Edigmr.exe, ArchiveManager.exe, Commpost.exe, ProcCtrl.exe, tx32.exe. These non-Admin binaries can be found in the Support\NonAdmin folder of the patch install image.
Temporary fix
