Problem

On Windows 2008, the IBM Rational Change server on Tomcat fails to start when installed under 'Program Files (x86)' OR 'Program Files

Cause

This is a Windows 2008 security issue.

Environment

Windows 2008 and Tomcat 6.0

Resolving The Problem

After installing Rational Change, perform the following steps:

  1. Give full control to the Windows user who installed Rational Change:
  • In Windows Explorer, right-click the Rational Change installation folder, for example, C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational Change, and click Properties. Select the Security tab.
  • Select the user who installed Rational Change. If the user is not displayed, click Edit and add the user.
  • Select the Allow checkboxes to assign all permissions to the user. Click OK.
2. Start Tomcat with the 'Run as administrator' option .
