Error description

• In SAP HANA Support Package Stack 4 (SPS 4), SAP HANA was using
  a backup catalog named
  '/usr/sap/SID/SYS/global/hdb/metadata/BackupCatalog.xml'
      (SID stands for the SystemID.)
  
  During backup,
  IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Enterprise Resource Planning,
  Data Protection for SAP HANA looks for that file.
  
  Now in SAP HANA SPS 5 the name and handling of the SAP HANA
  backup catalog were changed. It is now supposed to be included
  into the archiving of the redo logs.
  
  Due to a defect in SAP HANA SPS 5, starting with revision 45,
  SAP HANA does not report the correct catalog name.
  Therefore, the inclusion of the catalog in the redo log
  archiving process fails.
  As a result no catalog backup is performed. Thus the automated
  restore using 'restore.sh -mr' is no longer possible.

  'backup.sh --data' skips the HANA catalog with the warning:

  /usr/sap/AHA/SYS/global/hdb/metadata/BackupCatalog.xml:

  Due to the missing catalog, the automated restore via
  'restore.sh -mr' aborts with the message sequence:

• Until a fix is available, follow the manual restore
  procedure using the file manager 'backfm' and the
  SAP HANA Studio, to trigger the recovery process as described

  In SAP HANA revision 45 the name, location and handling of the
  backup catalog has been changed. In revision 50 it was changed
  again. ee SAP Note 1812980 - 'Changes to the backup catalog as
  of Revision 45' for further details.
  

Problem conclusion

• IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Enterprise Resource Planning
  will be corrected to work with SAP HANA SPS 5 revisions 50 and
  higher. For revisions 45 to 49 use the work around from the
  Local Fix section.
  

Temporary fix

• Use backfm to restore all full database and redo log backups
  that are required to perform a recovery of the SAP HANA
  database.
