The Servant Region then abends due to the hung thread.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
This issue affects users of the WebSphere MQ Resource Adapter
V7.1 and V7.5 that are using Activation Specifications.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) +Java +Java zOS
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
A hung thread was detected that was attempting to deactivate an
message endpoint when the application was either stopped or
uninstalled. The thread was waiting for an active ServerSession
that complete before allowing the endpoint to deactivate.

A problem in the assignment of message references to a
ServerSession in the pool caused the following exception to
    occur:
    "
JMSCC0033: A synchronous method call is
not permitted when a session is being used asynchronously:
'deliver'., caused endpoint <endpoint_name> to be stopped.
    "

The above exception then caused the ServerSession to remain in
an active state even though the ServerSession would not run.

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR solves the problem by ensuring that the ServerSession
is not incorrectly assigned message references when it is
returned to the ServerSession Pool. This will then allow any
deactivate endpoint thread to complete as no ServerSession will
    be seen as active.
