Troubleshooting
Problem
Attempts to import an IBM Rational license key file results in the error "These License keys are not for this machine".
Symptom
Importing a generated license file does no longer get imported into IBM Rational License Key Administrator.
Required information (Ethernet Mac address) has been retrieved as host key (read out using ipconfig /all -> physical address).

The get_host_info.exe utility does not work either.
The full error message is as follows:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the file." is displayed.
"
Cause
Outdated FlexLm version.
- Presence of multiple NIC*.
- Incorrect Client/Server setup under IBM Rational License Key Administrator -> Settings..
- Other ID other then Disk-ID of the hard disk has been selected.
- An UPD file contains incorrect host ID identifier, disk serial number because it is a MAC address that you used there and not the ID of the hard drive you have identified with the host ID.
- Error(s) in Hostid settings in LMTOOLS, tab 'System Settings'
If above cause candidates do not lead to a solution, please, contact technical support and provide them with the outcomes that are the results of the above possible causes and other relevant information that opens for the technical support engineers the possibility to solve the issue.
* NIC = Network Interface Card.
Resolving The Problem
Procedure:
- Compare the Host ID settings under System Settings of LMTOOLS tab.
- Correct when needed
- Regenerate the license file if wrong Host ID is entered
- Change the host name mentioned in the Client/Server configuration in License Key Administrator (LKAD).
