APAR status

Error description

  • Cust is using Pcomm 6.0.2.
    If he launch data transfer gui ( pcsft5.exe ) by clicking
    action -> Receive file from host, PCSERR001 popup appears.
     PCSERR001 : Error occured on opening the file
                 C:/Document and Settings/A  /Application Data/
                 IBM/Personal Communications/PC5250$A.TTO
    If he presses OK on the popup, he can open data transfer GUI.
    He found that this symptom occurs if he logon Windows by the
    user whose name includes "-R" like "A-R".
    If it is, "-R" is turned to spaces unexpectedly in the pathname
    to PC5250$x.TTO as like above sample of error message.
    It seems that the default .TTO file of the session"PC5250$x.TTO"
    is always saved in user profile directory.
    So if the path of user profile directory includes some specific
    pattern of characters, this symptom occurs.

    When PCOMM 6.0.2 Japanese version is installed with prefernce
    of "ALL Users" and the Windows user name contains a hyphen,
    PCSERR001 error will occur when launching Data Transfer from
    the PCOMM menu bar: Actions -> Receive File from host.
    
    The error message shows the problem path contains some spaces
    in the path name instead of the correct one which contains
    full User name with the hyphen character.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Problem is caused by hard coded Data Transfer option checking.
    It will not only affect the reported problem with "R-R" but
    also other strings like: "-r","-I","-i","-S","-s".
    
    PCSFT5.EXE has been changed to do a more complete check for
    spaces in the path to avoid such an error.
    
    Fix is scheduled for PCOM 5.9.8 Refresh Pack
    Fix is scheduled for PCOM 6.0.4 Refresh Pack
