IC78474: JSON ALLOWS UNESCAPED "&" VALUE BUT DATAPOWER REJECTS IT

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When you send a JSON file to DataPower which includes a special
character such as an ampersand, DataPower rejects it with the
error message "implied
action convert-http: 'Converting INPUT with map (none) results
stored in
__JSONASJSONX' failed: Unable to parse JSON and generate JSONx:
illegal
character ' ' at offset" ...

However, characters such as ampersand are not excluded from
JSON content

Local fix

  • Use escaped versions of special characters in JSON input

Problem summary

  • Customers using services processing JSON message format will no
longer get
service failure and 'Invalid JSON format' error logged for valid
JSON messages containing & or < characters in names or string
values.

Problem conclusion

  • Fix is available in 3.8.2.8, 4.0.1.5 and 4.0.2.1
