Error description
HSM for Windows Upgrade Installation to 5.5.3.1 might fail to replace HSM Monitor Service Problem Description: When the HSM for Windows client is upgraded from the 5.5.3.0 version to the 5.5.3.1 version, it does not install the updated HSM Monitor service. No errors are reported during upgrade. After the required reboot of the system the HSM Monitor service does not start. Affected Products: Tivoli Storage Manager HSM for Windows versions 5.5.3.1, when upgrading from version 5.5.3.0. Customer/L2 diagnostics: After upgrade the date of last modification of the HSM Monitor service is July 21st 2010. The file version shown in the explorer (via right click > Properties > Version) is 5.5.3.0. The Service Control Manager reports error events 7000 and 7009 for the HSM Monitor service in the Windows event log with the following descriptions: Event ID: 7000 The IBM TSM HSM Monitor Service service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. Event ID: 7009 Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the IBM TSM HSM Monitor Service service to connect. No new entries or errors are written to the hsmmonitor.log or hsmmonitor-admin.log file. Additional Keywords: HSM for Windows, Upgrade, Install Initial Impact: HSM Monitor Service cannot be started.
