IC75163: PROCESSING JSON TYPE MESSAGE MAY FAIL DUE TO MESSAGE LENGTH RESTRICTIONS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When processing JSON traffic data, if any name/value pair has a
  string length considered too long, the service will fail and a
  log message similar to the following will be registered, with
  error code 0x80c00008:
  
  "implied action convert-http: 'Converting INPUT with map (none)
  results stored in __JSONASJSONX' failed: JSON type length
  exceeded"
  
  This is due to an internal limit of 256 characters for any
  string value or 128 characters for any number value.
  

Local fix

• Until the internal limitation is pushed higher or made
  configurable, the suggestion is to reduce the length of the
  value being passed.
  

Problem summary

• Affected are customers making use of JSON string processing of
  "long" strings.
  
  
  The service will fail and a log message

Problem conclusion

• Maximum supported JSON property name and value length of 8192
  are available in 3.8.1.11 and 3.8.2.3
