Troubleshooting
Problem
Attempts to add classes to a new class diagram while using IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere v8.5.x, fail because no tools are available from the palette and the drag and drop feature for Java files is disabled.
Symptom
These steps reproduce the problem:
- Install Rational Application Developer v8.5.x with the default features
- Start the product on a new workspace
- Create a new Java project with some Java source files
- Create a new Class Diagram : File > New > Other > Modeling > Class Diagram. This creates a file with extension
.dnx. The diagram opens and it is empty, as expected.
- Attempt to drag a Java Source File on the diagram surface. You will notice that the drag and drop action is not enabled.
- Observe the Palette
Result:
There is no entry in the palette that allows you to add a Class to the class diagram.
