Image Services: Windows 2008 R2: SDS workers abort after applying latest Fix Pack

Problem

After FileNet Image Services 4.1.2 FP16, 4.2.0 FP5, or FP6 is applyed on a server running Windows 2008 R2, the SDS_worker processes core when the Image Services software is restarted. This problem has been reported only on Windows 2008 R2 servers running the Windows Standard Edition. The problem occurs only if Centera has been configured as the Integral SDS device.

Symptom

The SDS_worker processes do not start because, as of FileNet Image Services 4.1.2 FP16 and 4.2.0 FP5, the EMC SDK 3.3 libraries are installed.  The EMC SDK 3.3 libraries are missing a software dependancy with the Windows 2008 R2 Standard Edition.
