IO16943: 745 TERMINAL CAME UP WITH A BLANK SCREEN.

 

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • 745 configured for layaway (2x20 and a video, non-touch,
monitor) came
up with a blank screen (2x20 was OK with Welcome to Walmart).
Dumped
store 54, register 59 and then the  register came up with the
proper
stuff on the screen.  Dump is Q66.

Local fix

  • 



Problem summary


    

  •  The intel driver will probe the secondary VGA
port even there is no monitor attached to it on
any POS machine with intel sandybridge chipset.
Since there is no monitor attached to the
secondary VGA port, the system video will fail.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  •  Do not enable the VGA2 port when there is no
monitor attached to the secondary VGA port
on any POS machine with intel sandybridge
chipset.
