IO07457: RENDITION SERVICE UNABLE TO CREATE PDF'S OF MSG FILES USING OUTLOOK.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Unable to user Rendition Service to create PDF's of Outlook
  e-mails (MSG Files).
  The Rendition service hangs after it appears to launch
  Outlook.exe however it never prints the PS file.
  All the usual settings and tricks that make rendering DOC and
  XLS files have been tried with no success.
  
  Since the rendition service seems to hang on the Print portion I
  configured the Print Service to try and print MSG files.
  Again it fails. I configured the Windows Service to interact
  with the desktop.  When the Prtint service tries to print the
  MSG file it posts an error.
  Microsoft Outlook: Could not complete the operation because the
  service provider does not support it
  
  I was able to successfully submit a print job from a command
  window by copying an MSG to the Print Server and submitting this
  command.
  outlook.exe /p c:\renditiontest.msg
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• Users unable to create PDFs from Outlook e-mail
  Users were unable to use Rendition Services to create PDFs of
  Microsoft Outlook e-mail. Rendition Services appeared to hang
  after it launched Microsoft Outlook (Outlook.exe). The fix for
  this problem also enables Rendition Services to generate PDFs
  from HTML files.
  

Problem conclusion

• The fix is available in DB2 Document Manager v8.3 Fix Pack 8 and
  in v8.4 Fix Pack 1.
