IO06696: USING THE VERSION HISTORY DIALOG TO VIEW AN OLDER VERSION OF AN ITEM WORD PROP EX WILL OVERWRITE THE OLDER VERSION WITH THE NEWE

APAR status

Error description

• Using the Version History Dialog to View an older version of an
  item Word Property Exchange will overwrite the older version
  attributes with the most recent attributes.
  For Example I have 3 versions of an item.
  My Word Property exchange is configured to update the Verison
  Number in the Word document.  (This was the easiest attribute to
  exchange be cause it changes automatically).
  I have 2 versions of my test file.  I use the Version History
  command (You must have the View command enabled on the Version
  History dialog)
  I select Version 1 and choose View.
  The View command launches Word and Version 1 of the file is
  copied out, I can know this because I can see the document in
  Word and all the data in the document is from Version 1,
  including the Version ID.
  The Word Property exchange processes and updates the Version ID
  field to version 2. (this is wrong because I'm viewing Version
  1).
  

Local fix

• Use a dedicated view app like Word Viewer or Autovue, since
  these apps do not support Property exchange
  

Problem summary

• Using the Version History command to select and then view an
  older version of a Microsoft Word document overwrote the
  document's property exchange attributes with the attributes
  from the most recent version of the document.
  
  (The fix for this problem is not included in
  DB2 Document Manager Version 8.4.)
  

Problem conclusion

• The fix is available in DB2 Document Manager v8.3 Fix Pack 7 and
  in v8.4 Fix Pack 1.
