APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After upgrading from CICS Explorer 5.4 to 5.5 the CICS SM
CICS SM view is corrupted and needs two restarts
to correct the CICS SM view.
The steps taken were:
- install into Explorer55 folder
- copy the CICS Explorer 5.4 workspace to the Explorer55 folder
- start Explorer 5.5
- switch workspace to the old 5.4 workspace
- Explorer restarts and you get the usual panels about updating
  old views
- connect successfully to the CICS WUI region, but the CICS SM
  view is not correct.
You cannot expand the CICSplex to see the regions, and region
views etc. are missing. Also the Operations and Definitions
and pulldowns are missing from the CICS SM perspective.

- however after two further restarts, both of which displayed
the 'update cics explorer view' panel the CICS SM view
displayed correctly and the 'Operations'
and Definitions' pulldowns were back.

Problem summary

  • After upgrading from CICS Explorer 5.4 to 5.5, the CICS SM view
is corrupted and needs two restarts to correct the CICS SM view.
Incorrect logic around loading the resources view model and
updating the versions within meant the model was not fully
loaded before the save was triggered.

Problem conclusion

  • The logic relating to loading the resources view model and
updating the versions within the resources view model has been
corrected so that the model is fully loaded before the save is
triggered.

This fix will be made available in Version 5.5.0.6 of the CICS
Explorer.
