Error description
Using the CICS Explorer TS Queues view, if a queue name contains non-displayable data, it cannot be deleted. When you select the DELETE option, the following message is returned: . CNX0599E: RESPONSE(NODATA). . If you use the WUI browser to delete this same TS queue, it is successful. . TS queues with non-displayable characters are valid. They are often created internally from specific resources. . The queue names have a mix of display data and packed decimal. One example, is a queue name of EIBTRNID+EIBTASKNO. . . . Local fix
Problem summary
When a customer deletes a TSQNAME record, Explorer sends a request to CMCI which includes the NAME field of the TSQNAME record. This name field can include non-printable characters, or characters that are lost in the conversion across the wire to Explorer which means that it is not possible to identify the TSQNAME to be deleted.
Problem conclusion
When CICS Explorer is asked to get a primary key for a TSQNAME resource, it now automatically swaps the NAME field for the HEXNAME field under the covers, if the region that the resource belongs to is 4.2 or newer. This means that for TSQNAME resources in regions from 4.2 onwards, the hexname will automatically be used and the server-side resource can be uniquely identified. For regions prior to 4.2, deleting a TSQNAME record over CMCI is a system stability concern because it is possible that a user could attempt to delete one TSQNAME record and actually delete another. To avoid an unintended system stability issue CICS Explorer will prevent TSQNAME resources from being deleted in regions prior to 4.2 with the warning "Deleting TS Queue resources on regions older CICS TS 4.2 is no longer supported." This fix will be made available in Version 5.4.0.12 of the CICS Explorer. .
