Closed as program error.
Error description
An I/O operation may report the following error into the server activity log (note the "CC=204" completion code): ANR8300E I/O error on library LIBRARY (OP=00006C02, CC=204, KEY=06, ASC=28, ASCQ=00, SENSE= 70.00.06.00.00.00.00.0A.00.00.00.00.28.00.00.00.00.00.00- .00.00., Description=Recovered from an I/O error; for your information only). Refer to the IBM Spectrum Protect documentation on I/O error code descriptions. Despite the above, the operation will end successfully. Customer/L2 Diagnostics: When the failed I/O operation is fully recovered, the driver sets the compCode code as value as 204. This compCode tells the server that the device driver recovered I/O error. Therefore the I/O is successful. However, the driver sets this compCode as 204, but sets a non-zero value to rc. It means the device operation had errors. This rc value causes the server fails the I/O operation. The correct rc value should be set 0 in this case. The DD trace will look like as follow: ... dd_ioctl: 0xf1000b0042ff7000 **ADSM_LBIOC_LIBRARY_INVENTORY** END rc = -1, status = 0, compcode = 204 dd_ioctl: KEY = 0x06, ASC = 0x28, ASCQ = 0x00, FSC = 0x00 adsm_ioctl: index = 0, minor_flag = 0x00000000 dd_ioctl: 0xf1000b0042ff7000 **ADSM_DDIOC_RETURN_ERR** driver_id: 8.1.5.000 Jun 2 2019 12:55:52 dd_ioctl: KEY = 0x06, ASC = 0x28, ASCQ = 0x00, FSC = 0x00 adsm_ioctl: index = 0, minor_flag = 0x00000000 dd_ioctl: 0xf1000b0042ff7000 **ADSM_DDIOC_RETURN_ERR** driver_id: 8.1.5.000 Jun 2 2019 12:55:52 dd_ioctl: ilp32_model_convert=0, cmd=6402 dd_ioctl: lock ok. dd_ioctl: return error IOCTL dd_ioctl: cmd = 0x6402 dd_ioctl_common: return error dd_ioctl_common: number_sense = 21 dd_ioctl: unlock ok. dd_ioctl: 0xf1000b0042ff7000 **ADSM_DDIOC_RETURN_ERR** END rc = 0, status = 0, compcode = 204 dd_ioctl: KEY = 0x06, ASC = 0x28, ASCQ = 0x00, FSC = 0x00 adsm_close: index = 0, minor_flag = 0x00000000 dd_close: 0xf1000b0042ff7000 **DD_CLOSE** driver_id: 8.1.5.000 Jun 27 2019 12:55:49 dd_close: device is now locked ds_close: device_type = LIBRARY dd_scsi_cmd: arg = 0x0 dd_build_cdb: arg from dev_p->arg at 0x00000000 dd_build_cdb: vendor_id = QUANTUM product_id = DXi6900 dd_build_cdb: product_revision_level = 100A dd_build_cdb: 0xf1000b0042ff7000 op_code = 23 SCSI command = Release dd_build_cdb: lun_id = 0x0 byte1 = 0x0 dd_build_cdb: scsi_op_code = 0x17 dd_scsi_cmd length 0 command 2 lbp = 0 dd_scsi_cmd: ERP mode arg = 0x00000000 dd_scsi_cmd: dev_p 0xf1000b0042ff7000 dev_p->cdb_p 0xf1000b0042ff76c8 cmd_len= 6 dd_scsi_cmd: command 2 timeout 120 data_len 0 dd_scsi_cmd: scsi_data_address 0x0 exec_mode 0x1 dd_scsi_cmd: 0xf1000b0042ff7000 CDB 17 00 00 00 dd_scsi_cmd: 0xf1000b0042ff7000 CDB 00 00 00 00 dd_scsi_cmd: 0xf1000b0042ff7000 CDB 00 00 00 00 dd_scsi_cmd: 0xf1000b0042ff7000 CDB 00 00 00 00 ps_scsi_execute: dev_p->cdb 0x42ff76c8 dev_p->cdb[0] 0x17 ...
