APAR status

Error description

  • IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments: Data Protection
    for VMware does not support backup and restore for NSX network
    devices.
    VMs with such devices are reported as successfully backed up,
    but the device information for NSX devices is not included in
    the backup.
    When the VM is restored, the VM might not boot successfully.
    IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: V7.1  and V8.1  on all
    platforms.
    
    Products affected:
    IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments Data Protection
    for VMware versions 7.1 and  8.1 running on
    all Microsoft Windows x64 and Linux x86 platforms.
    
    Note 1: The Backup-Archive Client is a prerequisite to using the
    Data Protection for VMware version 7.1. In Data Protection for
    VMware environments, the Backup-Archive Client is also known
    as the data mover.
    
    If you are using Backup-Archive Client 7.1 and 8.1, refer to

    If you are using Data Protection for VMware 8.1,

Local fix

  • After the VM is restored, manually add and configure the NSX
    device.
