IT26418: APPLICATION-CONSISTENT BACKUP IMAGES OF DATABASES ARE NOT LISTED FOR RESTORE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Microsoft Exchange mailbox databases and Microsoft SQL
  databases which were backed up application-aware during the
  backup of their hosting virtual machine are not listed for
  restore in the Data Protection MMC GUI and in command line
  queries from within the virtual machine.
  Database backups taken from within the virtual machine
  are listed.
  
  Diagnosing the issue:
  ======================
  Running the command:
  dsmc q vm <VM Name> -asnode=<Data Center Node Name>
   -detail -ina
  .... shows that the backups were Application Aware,
  for example:
    Application protection type: TSM VSS
    Application(s) protected: Microsoft Exchange Server 2016
  
  The Datamover trace for such backups may contain entries
  like:

Problem conclusion

• Spectrum Protect Datamover has been updated to provide a way to
  restore MS SQL and MS Exchange databases from DP for VMware VM
  backups taken for guest systems where the database status cannot
  be successfully collected.
