• During IBM Spectrum Protect Plus backup, a failure may be
  reported as follows in the joblog:
  
      Unprotected vm: vmName [The file is already in
      use (evddk-15)]

    What is happening is the disk on the vSnap is locked. During
    the
    Backup the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus backup monitor thread
    considers a vmdkbackup is not responding and decides to stop
    the vmdkbackup process. The stop is not handled properly and
    leaves a lock (*.lck) file behind that prevents the backup
    from occurring next time.

Local fix

•   Search for the lock files using the following find command on
    the vSnap server:
  
      find /vsnap -name *.lck
  
    Assuming there are no backup/restore jobs running these lock
    files can be removed.
