Problem

How to resolve DIA3202C The TCP/IP call "socket" returned an errno="97" errors in the db2diag.log generated by the db2start command.

Symptom

DB2 is not listening for incoming TCP/IP connections, 'db2start' reports :


    SQL5043N Support for one or more communications protocols failed to start successfully. However, core database manager functionality started successfully.
    SQL1063N DB2START processing was successful.

and the db2diag.log contains

    DIA3202C The TCP/IP call "socket" returned an errno="97"
Errno 97 is 'EAFNOSUPPORT', address family not supported.
