Error description

  • IBM Personal Communications v12.0.2 CHS
    .
    When doing the Copy and Paste, the $ symbol will become \ after
    paste. This happens when the Host Code-Page in SC Personal
    Communications is selected to use 037 United States. When we
    change the Host Code-Page in SC PCOMM to 1388 China Extended,
    the problem does not occur.
    .
    Note: This new problem does not happen for Traditional Chinese
    PCOMM. In Traditional Chinese PCOMM, the Copy and Paste
    function for $ symbol works correctly for both 037 United
    States and 937 Taiwan Extended.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * While performing Copy and Paste operation, the '$' symbol *
    * will become '\' after paste.                                 *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Launch the Simplified Chinese IBM Personal Communications
    (PCOMM) emulator.
    2. Go to session parameter, and select the "037 United State"
    Host Code-page
    3. Connect to the host and login.
    4. Copy the string containing the '$' character
    5. Paste it on green screen and notice that '$' character will
    be pasted as '\'.
    In Simplified Chinese PCOMM, this issue occurs when the Host
    Code-Page is set to use Ô £037 United StatesÔ . Whereas
    if we
    change the Host Code-Page into Ô £1388 China ExtendedÔ ,
    the
    problem does not occur.

Problem conclusion

  • PCSEDIT.DLL code changes have been made in copy operation area
    so that EBCDIC value for '$' symbol is mapped to correct ASCII
    value.
    Fix scheduled for IBM Personal Communications 12.0.3.0 and
    13.0.1.0 Refresh Pack.
