APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Primary/standby TPC-R servers never reach synchronized state
    when failing back to the primary after having the standby
    temporarily takeover as primary.
    In the TPC-R csmMessageX.log files, the following message is
    logged:
    [db2admin] IWNR1951I [2016-10-06 15:47:13.085+0000]
    High-Availability relationship
    tpcrhppnsm0010v.prod.wspan.com->TPCRSFDRUT0010V.resource.corp.lc
    l changed to the Synchronization Pending state.
    From that time forward until the service is restarted, it
    remains stuck in syncronization pending state.
    RECREATE STEPS:
    Takeover primary control from the standby server, then return
    control to the original primary, observe status get stuck and
    never update until restart of the services.

Problem conclusion

  • IBM Spectrum Control 5.2.x users who desire to use the
    Replication functionality should upgrade to IBM Copy Services
    Manager. IBM Copy Services Manager is available with every IBM
    Spectrum Control V5.2.8 or later license.
