APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• For any tape related operation, the Tivoli Storage Manager
  server does use the real device file to query the persistent
  reserve key of the drive. Due to the current limitation of the
  IBM lin_tape device driver, the Tivoli Storage Manager server
  fails to query the persistent reserve key from a tape drive
  directly. The IBM lin_tape driver sets this query as an invalid
  operation and logs an invalid ioctl to the system log file,
  like:
  
  MMM DD hh:mm:ss vlzdsm1d kernel: lin_tape: lin_tape_drive_ioctl
  invalid ioctl.
  
  This does not affect the Tivoli Storage Manager server
  operations itself nor the usage of the tape device. The lBM
  lin_tape driver only returns the persistent reserve key via its
  pseudo device file.
