Error description

  • In a specific situation, user restore command may not work.
    Below is an example:
    --
    M2000(mqcli)# userlist
    user01
    M2000(mqcli)# grouplist
    mqm :
    users : user01
    mqatestgrp : user01

    M2000(mqcli)# usercreate -u user02
    M2000(mqcli)# userlist
    user01
    user02
    M2000(mqcli)# grouplist
    mqm :
    users : user01 user02
    mqatestgrp : user01

    M2000(mqcli)# userbackup
User data has been backed up to
    'mqbackup://userbackup-20151008-170207'
    M2000(mqcli)# userdelete -u user02
    M2000(mqcli)# userlist
    user01
    M2000(mqcli)# grouplist
    mqm :
    users : user01
    mqatestgrp : user01

    M2000(mqcli)# userrestore -f
    mqbackup://userbackup-20151008-170207
    M2000(mqcli)# userlist
    user01
    M2000(mqcli)# grouplist
    mqm :
    users : user01
    mqatestgrp : user01
    --

    user user02 is not restored.

In trace files, we could not see the restore behavior of user02.

However, if using "userbackup -f", then there will be no
    problem.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
The users that are affected by this APAR are specifically users
of the IBM MQ Appliance M2000 attempting to backup and then
restore a set of MQ user identities.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The problem was caused internally when attempting to allocate a
buffer for the commands to collate the user identities.
These buffers are created as a result of using the userbackup
and userrestore commands in the command line interface (MQCLI),
but due to a logic error, were not allocated to be of sufficient
    size.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem is resolved by ensuring that an appropriately sized
buffer is used to hold the command line arguments of the
    internal collation activity.
