APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • An IBM MQ v8 Queue Manager is used to generate a CCDT file,
    which is then shared with a  v7.1 WebSphere MQ Client.
    
    The application using the v7.1 WebSphere MQ Client is unable
    to connect to the queue manager using this CCDT file.
    

Local fix

  • Generate the CCDT on a queue manager major version (version and
    release) which is less than or equal to the version of the IBM
    MQ Client
    code.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    IBM support for using CCDT files on older client levels is
    documented at this link:

    The compatibility restrictions were such that a newer CCDT
    cannot be used on an older client
    even if the older client was not making use of the attributes
    that were added in the newer version
    of the product.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR change relaxes the restriction by allowing newer CCDTs
    to be used on older clients but
    with the caveat that the older client cannot make use of any of
    the newer channel attributes.
    
    These attributes will assume their default values when the CCDT
    is negotiated with the queue manager.
