IT11316: VE FILE RESTORE FAILURE WITH 2 CONCURRENT USERS UNTIL RESTORE POINT IS REMOUNTED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The problem is if a user logs on to a Windows VM and mounts a
  backup then another user logs on to a Linux VM follow with a
  mount, the mounted volumes information for the Windows VM is
  lost. If the user on the Windows VM performs a search, File
  Restore UI will not be able to show the actual path on the guest
  VM of the search results but rather the mounted path of the
  search result on the mount proxy machine. The windows VM user
  will not be able to restore any files.
  

Local fix

• Workaround:
             The user on the Windows VM logs off then logs back on
  to do searches or restores. Or he can switch to another backup
  then switch back to the current backup.

Problem conclusion

• User logs on to a Windows VM will not be able to see the actual
  path name of files on the VM from the search result and restore
  them if another user logs on to a Linux VM and issued a mount.
  

Temporary fix

• A fix for this problem is currently targeted for interim fix
  package 7.1.3.1. Until the interim fix is actually available
  this information is subject to change at the discretion of IBM.
