Core dumps being created while stopping or restarting the Secure Connector

Question & Answer

Question

Why do core dumps get generated while stopping or restarting the Secure Connector with Cast Iron?

Cause

According to POSIX.1 standard, SIGABRT is sent by the process to itself to abort or terminate the connections it has established and the default action for this signal is to generate a core dump.

Answer

The reason why the core dump gets generated is due to the SIGABRT command used in the Secure Connector to gracefully exit and close the open connections by the Secure Connector.
