APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When running workload through the product, such that there are
periods of activity and inactivity, and using additional
instances, a small memory leak may be observed.

This occurs when threads are no longer needed and are returned
to the thread pool - a small amount of memory associated to
that thread is not correctly freed.

If the leaking process is captured via a memory leak diagnostic
tool, then the following object will be observed in the unfreed
    stacks:

    ImbWlmThreadContext

WLM (Workload Management) does not need to be enabled in order
    for this leak to occur.

There are a number of resource name changes between WebSphere
Message Broker and IBM Integration Bus Version 9.0. For details

Problem conclusion

  • The product now ensures that all objects related to Workload
Management, which are associated with a particular thread, are
correctly destroyed when that thread returns to the pool.
