IBM DataPower SOA Appliance: TAM Connectivity Error HPDAC0928E

Troubleshooting

Problem

DataPower is unable to connect to Tivoli Access Manager (TAM) and error HPDAC0928E is logged in the DataPower error logs. There are a number of root causes associated with this error such as invalid LDAP configuration, incorrect password, corrupt keystore, or inability to establish a connection to the LDAP server due to wrong port specification, invalid SSL configuration, or other. The following describes how to correct this issue when it is due to use of unsupported certificate type in the SSL connection. The same certificate may work for RBM LDAP over SSL in DataPower but it is not supported by the TAM client.

Symptom

Errors in DataPower log such as:

"Tivoli Access Manager authorization client log message: TAM server error: azn_initialize : HPDAC0928E The attempt to initialize the LDAP registry failed."
