IV47955: HIGH CPU DURING STAGE II PROCESSING AT THE RTEMS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Stage II processing at an RTEMS with a large number of
  situations and accesslist entries can result in high cpu usage
  for an extended period of time.
  
  RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
  Establish an RTEMS that will have 2,800 nodes (only a handful
  need to be attached to the RTEMS), 8,000 situations, and 44,000
  accesslist entries.
  Start the RTEMS. Cause it to reconnect to the HUB. Watch the
  stage II processing time and cpu usage.
  

Local fix

• Reduce the number of situations and accesslist entries as much
  as possible.
  

Problem summary

• High CPU during Stage II processing on a remote monitoring
  server.
  
  
  Stage II processing for a remote monitoring server with a large
  numbers of situations and accesslist entries may result in high
  CPU usage for an extended period of time.
  

Problem conclusion

• Stage II performance was markedly improved by adding partial
  key binary search, thereby resolving protracted high CPU usage
  during Stage II processing.
