Error description
On all Windows 2000 server machines process of TRC target (trc_base) is constantly growing in time, even there is no session opened: - Installation of TEM TRC 8.2 target - 2.12.2011 at 18:00 - Status after 1 hour of TRC target run = 8 MB in memory - After 26 hours = 50 MB of memory - After 48 hours = 96 MB - After 64 hours = 130 MB (50%RAM) Intel chipset 82865G or 82945G are in use. Development already investigated and found the root cause of the memory leak. It is due to an API which deals with multiple sessions and in Windows 2000 Pro it seems to fail and leaks memory. Opening this apar in agreement with dev team.

Problem summary
Users affected Controller n/a Server n/a CLI n/a Gateway n/a Target - Platforms Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 Problem Description Memory usage of the TRC target (trc_base.exe) increases constantly over time, even when the target is idle and there are no active sessions. This issue is seen on all systems running Windows 2000 Professional, but can also be seen on systems running a server edition of Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, if the Terminal Services service (TermService) is disabled. Problem Summary The memory leak was traced to a Windows Terminal Server API(WTSAPI). When the TermService is disabled or not installed, the WTSQuerySessionInformation API leaks a small amount of memory before failing with error 1702 (RPC_S_INVALID_BINDING) or 1151 (ERROR_APP_WRONG_OS). To prevent the memory leak, the target stops further calls to this API when these specific errors are returned.

The fix for this issue will be included in Tivoli Endpoint Manager for Remote Control interim fixpack 0001.
