HTTP Respond service stops working and post Transmission Error. Must cycle GIS to get the service to work again.

Troubleshooting

Problem

HTTP Respond service stops working and post Transmission Error. Must cycle GIS to get the service to work again.

Symptom

Remote TP access URI link configured on customer's HTTP Server adapter. The adapter invokes a BP in async mode (this has been verified), and the Http Respond Service in BP fails with TRANSMISSION ERROR and from that point on the service no loger works. Process Data contains an incorrect date/time in the transport-session-id, date/time remains constant but the data following the last colon does change on each execution of the bp. Cycling of HTTP Server adapter does not help clear the error, they must cycle GIS to clear the error and get the Respond service to again function. Troubleshooting found if another adapter is created from scratch, using another unique port#, it will execute the same BP successfully. Did a netstat on the adapter port# and it goes to 'established' which is normal and helloworld link test fine on adapter port, so this is not a newtwork issue.
The HTTP Respond service stopped working on June 24, GIS has not been cycled to clear the error as of July 8, 2009 so error condition currently exist now.
We noticed in the July 8 HTTP.log the Remote Exception errors posted contains thread info referencing a different date:
No Registration could be found for the supplied registration id.Wed Jun 24 14:20:26 EDT 2009:9561
Customer says June 24 is when this error originally began/occurred. They are not sure what occurs on their system to cause this error to start, but once it starts the HTTP Respond service in this BP on this adapter stops working.
If another adapter is created from scratch, using another unique port#, it will execute the same BP successfully.

Found in the customer's 6/24/09 ops.logs the following entries which supports our theory that the root cause of this error was due to the HTTP adapter was stopped and re-started probably before the adapter was completely stopped:
