Error description
A first connect to or restart of a database may shutdown the instance with SQL1224 when a restart or crash recovery is required ( due to a previous crash / abnormal shutdown ). This can also occur during rollforward. To help identify this problem, there should be two things in addition to the SQL1224: 1. A very large memory configuration for the database. 2. The string sqlpinit should appear in a trap file in the diagnostic directory.
Local fix
lowering database shared memory requirements temporarily should avoid this problem, eg. dbheap, utility heap, package cache, turn off intra_parallel if enabled. The changes can be reversed once crash recovery / rollforward is complete.
Problem summary
USERS AFFECTED:ALL PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:Instance crashes on connect to the database. The cause is trap in sqlpinit when crash recovery needs to be performed in a large configuration. PROBLEM SUMMARY:Signal 11 trap shows sqlpinit at the top of the stack.
